Carnosine research, organized.

More than three thousand peer-reviewed studies reference carnosine. I've indexed the most influential — clinical trials, animal work, mechanism studies, and modern reviews — grouped into eight categories, every one linked to its original source. Pick a category, or search the whole archive.

Antioxidant and neuroprotective effects of carnosine: therapeutic implications in neurodegenerative disease

Rather than testing one condition, this review walks through the brain diseases where carnosine has been studied — Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, ALS and Huntington's — and asks how close each body of evidence is to clinical use. The common thread is oxidative stress and metal-ion damage in neurons, two things carnosine is chemically suited to blunt.

Carnosine and the processes of ageing

Aging researchers describe a short list of biological processes that drive getting older. This paper lines carnosine up against several of them at once — oxidative damage, sugar-driven protein damage (glycation), failing mitochondria and the cell's declining ability to keep proteins in good repair.

Carnosine in health and disease

A useful starting point if you want the whole picture in one place: where carnosine is found in the body, what its chemistry does, and how the clinical evidence stacks up across brain, metabolic and oncology research.
